These are really amazing! I love the idea of creating with your kid(s). Do you have any tips for places to look for some of this snazzy furniture or accessories?
Hi Kathleen, thank you! Sharing tips for places to shop for this kind of futuristic aesthetic would indeed be helpful and someone suggested that to me earlier this week! I made these images using Midjourney, the artificial intelligence platform. So, the specific furniture and accessories don't exist as such. But of course there are places that have fun products that match the aesthetic. I don't know where you are in the world (I looked through some of your posts and looks like you get around the world a lot :-)) ... Below are a few links to European (where I am) stores that match the aesthetic of my rooms. I will figure out more organized ways to share more of this in the future.
You’re most welcome! 😊 I’m looking forward to doing more on real pieces. Ohh 🇨🇭 ! I lived in Geneva twice and the country forever hangs on to a piece of my happy heart, despite its faults!
Love. "Draw me a picture, let's make a plan." Power of choice. Worry about the psychology of colors later! I want to try the idea of a nook with curtains for the bed.
Thank you, John :-)! YES, a picture then a plan!! Highly recommend the bed nook with curtains! I miss it so much! What also worked well for me in terms of FAB cozy sleep (but not quite as well as the curtained nook) , was REALLY dark paint on the walls. Two houses ago we had super dark green walls in our bedroom and it was lovely and enveloping and oh so peaceful.
I totally agree, my parents let me truly go mad in my bedroom with the decor. I painted multicolours all over the walls at one stage, and then painted it black and white to write on my favourite quotes and do more 'refined' sketches on the walls when I was a teen. I draped fabrics around the place, made oddly-shaped shelves and rearranged the furniture more times than I can count. It was so freeing to just be allowed to be creative and do what I wanted in my space, and my friends envied me so much!
Oh thank you for sharing this, Tamzin! This sounds wonderful! And obviously from the way you write about it you appreciated both them and now retrospectively! Interior design on its surface feels rather frivolous and superficial, and it certainly can be, but on some levels it can also be so important and empowering as an expression of identity... and in the case of children, a validation from those with power over them that their identity as they see themself is worthy of being shouted from every wall. Especially during adolescence, I can imagine this feeling and being VERY important.
Thank you for sharing this, Tamzin. I really appreciate hearing and understanding the impact on humans of interiors and how we alter and adorn those interiors. Lovely e-chatting with you! Thank you again! 😊

I really think it is, for me it meant freedom, trust, joy of experimentation without fear, so many layers to it!
