Ah, such a lovely tribute to The Hague! Of the many Dutch cities I'm familiar with, this one seems the most...well, polite. It's not as loud as Amsterdam, not as aggressive as Rotterdam, and not a university-town-feel like Utrecht or Groningen. Quirky too, The Hague is the seat of national government yet is not the capital. Known officially as 's-Gravenhage, called Den Haag by the locals, and other archaic names that translate to the Count's Woods, The Hague is diverse and welcoming in many ways. It's a nice place to call home. Thanks for sharing this creative viewpoint of her beautiful cityscapes.

Thank you, Kate! I love hearing that the posts are being appreciated! I don’t remember if I’ve already written this to you, but I absolutely adore this piece of your bio description, “...embarking on a mid-life Gap Year”. Brilliant! And I hope it’s a brilliant year!

I absolutely loved this post and hearing you read it. I felt all the feelings about longing for home and daydreamed about which of these colour combinations might be suitable for the space I'll create in my own home ONE DAY... And I absolutely spluttered at the aside about lemonade because, of course, I know exactly the ones you mean and have fallen victim to the beautiful words on a menu that describe something that turns out to be quite pretty and 'nice enough' but hardly life-changing.

Haha, absolutely agree - those lemonades almost always look significantly more attractive than their pleasant enough taste! Thank you, Rahma, it’s great to have you read and connect with this post...I still think about your ‘What if I stayed’ piece. Happy weekend to you and yours.

Wonderful, Vanessa! I just love your use of colour palettes to tell your own story. I also love your VO. It's the perfect use of this facility. I've been listening to your gorgeous voice while I scroll through the photos without having to swap back and forth between words and images. Fabulous stuff. x

Thank you very much, Miranda!! Lovely to hear you enjoyed it! For awhile I thought I was wasting my time with the voice overs, but then I started to get feedback from people saying they enjoyed them. So, was a good lesson - people may be listening/paying attention even if we don’t always know it! :-)
