Oh yes, keep the love affair with books going; dedicate a room for books. Even your living room can be surrounded with books that hold you in their embrace. It's easy to add book shelves on either side of a window in any room that can allow for seating under the window--a perfect place to curl up and get lost with a book. Love the images. Thanks for sharing.
Your irresistible nooks lure me to curl up in them with a good book - which leads me to ask if you've read "Joyful, the surprising power of ordinary things to create extraordinary happiness." I keep thinking of your creations as I read this eye-opening tribute to colors, textures and shapes!
Hi Elsa!! I have not read it, but I just looked it up and it sounds wonderful! Sounds like perfect audio book listening for my daily bike commute! :-D And YES, the same spirit that goes into my tinkering explorations in the classroom is very much present in my interior design explorations - grateful that you noticed that :-D. Thinking of you and listening to your wonderful readings to the kids!!
I love these ides and find inspiration in all of them. My library is a lot of crowded shelves and 2 tall piles beside my bed - I now feel these arrangements need some more love! Thank you for the ideas and prompt!
I’ve collected books for years and creating a library space was one of my must-haves when we bought our home three years ago. I think having a dedicated spot to celebrate your books helps you read more. I commandeered the front rooms of our house to be a library with a cozy reading chair and it’s my favorite room of the house!
Hi Kerani, this sounds heavenly, and I am not surprised that it's your favorite room of the house! There is something so deeply soothing about being surrounded by books that hold so much delight, both already enjoyed and yet to be read. I think because books absorb a lot of sound, even home libraries feel very quiet and still - and I Iove that calm! I don't have one at home yet, but the far quiet corners of public libraries give me that feeling. Happy reading!! :-)
Oh I'd never thought about how books absorb sound! That's such an interesting thing and makes a lot of sense. I always think libraries are spaces of possibility, a choose your own adventure type experience, because each book can take you on a different journey.
