Last Saturday, I walked with dear friends and my family through the beautiful streets of Brussels, literally all day long. My eyes were on the hunt for enticing colour palettes, searching up, down and around. My eyes were NOT disappointed! My companions were patient with me, despite me absolutely being THAT PERSON, pulling out my phone every few minutes to take yet ANOTHER photo! I’m sharing 10 of my favourites with you here, along with a colour palette I chose to pull out from each photo. Colour hunting in Brussels was a marvelous way to see the city through multi-coloured glasses. Lately, this colour tourism has been my favourite way to travel!
CARIBBEAN EVENINGS: I grew up in St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands. This palette reminds me of having dinner on open air patios overlooking the darkening Caribbean Sea.
BOLD EMBRACE: The overall look is dark and enveloping, but the Exotic Orange brings a surprising punch of excitement. This would be a great combo for a family room, creating an cocooning welcoming space that still sets an optimistic tone.
PREPPY COASTAL: Great colours for an upscale seaside dinner, wearing white shorts, with a white sweater tied over one’s shoulders.
GRASSY SUMMER: A picnic in the park with lemonade and sandwiches.
TEENAGE TONES: Slightly too full-on, and therefore perfect for those of a certain age.
WATERMELON TWIST: I love orange with pink! The orange and blue prevent the palette from being pure summery watermelon, which wouldn’t be very original, while still allowing the summery feeling to shine through.
MIDNIGHT HUG: To me this palette feels like being in an insulated room with upholstered walls and comfortable sofas filled with cushions. Dark and hushed.
UNICORN COLOURING BOOK: Whistling at the table while doodling. Pure happy has it’s place too, nothing wrong with leaning into unicorns and mermaids sometimes!
LOUDER CALM: While this is a bit too severe for my personal tastes, I think for the right person or right space, it’s a great combination of safe dignified style.
ATLANTIC SUNSET: A cold quiet night watching the sunset.
Colour tourism. It’s my new thing.

This was a nice way to do colour mapping! You definitely brought out the most vibrant colour out of, very often, rainy and grey Brussels weather :) I liked the story, and the view of Brussels through your eyes.
Gosh what a cool project to color palette the streets!! I have yet to visit Brussels and you have now convinced me. Thanks for the eye candy.
